The definition of the Renaissance is the rebirth of learning. The Renaissance in the Netherlands occurred from 1300 to 1600 A.D. This was a time in Netherland history that many men contributed to the art and science worlds.
One of the Renaissance men from the Netherlands was Joachim Patinir. He was a landscape painter. Patinir was born in 1480 and died on October 5, 1524. There were no records of his early work and training. Most of his paintings were of religious scenes from the Bible.
Another Renaissance man was Pieter Aertsen who was a Dutch historical painter. Aertsen was born in 1508 and died in 1575. He was born and died in Amsterdam. He painted domestic scenes and also made furniture, and cooking utensils. His best works were altar pieces. A lot of the altar pieces he did were destroyed in the Netherland religious wars. Crucifixion was his best painting he painted. Most of, his paintings are lighthearted, and spirited. Most of Aertsen’s works were done for churches.

He was born in Breda, Netherlands. He died in Brussels and was buried in Kappellekerk. Brueghel `s kids became painters too. Their names were Pieter Brueghel the younger, and Jan Brueghel the elder. Neither boy received training from his father because he died when they were very young.
Jan van Eyck was a Renaissance artist who was considered one of the best Northern European painters of the 15 century. He invented oil paintings. His paintings were really detailed panel paintings. Jan van Eyck was considered “Father of Oil Painting” because of his invention. His paintings were considered to have fantastic effects. He was born in 1395. He was born in Burgurdian , Netherlands. He died on July 9, 1441.
Another Renaissance man was Han Lippershey a German-Dutch lensmaker. He was thought to have created the telescope. Lippershey was born in Wesel, Germany, 1570. Later, he settled in Middleburg, Netherland. That same year he was married. In 1602, he became a citizen of the Netherlands. He is one of the two to be credited for inventing the telescopes.
The other man who was credited for inventing the telescopes was Dutch spectacle maker, Sacharias Jansen. He was born in 1580 and died in 1658. There was no recorded details of Jansen’s life.
